How can I be added to your database and receive information on practices that fit my criteria?
Please fill out our Buyer Inquiry Form below and we will be in touch shortly.
As a buyer, am I charged any fees?
As a buyer, you will not be charged any fees by Lee Skarin and Associates of Arizona. Although you will not be charged a fee by us, you will likely incur fees associated with hiring an attorney and / or accountant to review the contract.
Is it necessary for a seller to continue working at the practice post-sale?
It depends. The majority of practice sale transactions do not require the previous owner staying on staff. However, there are some situations where it may be beneficial and could be negotiated as part of the sale.
How long does the process take?
The easy answer is, it depends. Typically, upon identifying a practice of interest, pre-qualifications completed and submitted offer, the process can take around 6-8 weeks. The process could be longer or shorter depending on the situation.
Is it necessary to hire an attorney and/or accountant?
It is not necessary to hire an attorney and / or accountant. However, it is suggested that both buyer and seller do so. We suggest utilizing a professional with an understanding of the business of dental practices and can make recommendations upon request.
Is this the right practice for me?
This is a key question that every buyer needs to ask him or herself prior to purchasing a practice. The buyer must be able to envision themselves in the practice they are purchasing. They should be a good fit in basic philosophy, skill level and, ideally, personality style as well. This all combines together to create a good match.
Will the staff stay on after the transition?
Generally, this is not an issue for multiple reasons. As long as the buyer does not make any drastic changes such as pay or job function adjustments, there is little reason for the staff to leave. Put yourself in their shoes, they would need to find a new job with the same pay, similar commute and still would have to work for a new doctor. So, why not give you the benefit of the doubt and continue working with the same team members and patients? It’s up to you, the buyer, to put your best foot forward and maintain continuity.
Will the patients remain post-sale?
Same as the question above, “Will the staff stay on after the transition?” generally this is not an issue. Like the staff members not wanting to find another job, patients are going to have to see a new dentist regardless, so why not you? You have their records and there is familiarity with the staff and location. So, it is up to you, the buyer, to ensure that the purchase is a good fit with your overall philosophy.
